How Performance Coaching Works
From my experience, I have learned that there are two types of coaching: transactional and transformational.
Transactional Coaching is when a coach imposes their preferred performance model as to what a client should or should not be doing, attempts to mold them into that model, and holds them accountable for achieving set goals and objectives. This is not my coaching approach.
Transformational Coaching is when the coach helps to transform their client’s existing beliefs and practices to achieve enhanced personal and business success. It’s about getting to the root cause and origins of both inner and outer game issues, changing them at the source, and creating the conditions for positive lasting change.
As a Transformational Performance Coach, without judgment or critique, I listen deeply to the stories my clients tell me. I help them understand their situation from different perspectives, expand and clarify their thinking, challenge any limiting assumptions, and provide the support, guidance, and accountability they need to decide and execute on their best course of action.
